Death or Glory Belt
Our newest belt features these custom-made Death Or Glory badges, produced here in the UK, specifically for Lewis Leathers. Skull symbols were adopted by riders for their bikes and jackets during the earliest days of motorcycling and can be seen in accessory catalogues of the 1930s. They appeared again with the Coffee Bar Cowboys of the 50's, during the 1960's, young British riders adopted all kinds of military cap badges for their jackets, one in particular was the Death Or Glory badge. The history behind the Death or Glory emblem stretches as far back as 1759 when it was first used by the 17th Lancers (Duke of Cambridge’s Own) a cavalry regiment known for their bravery and nicknamed ‘The Death or Glory Boys’. In 1922 they were amalgamated with the 21st Regiment and renamed the 17th / 21st Lancers. 1993 saw yet another amalgamation and they are now known as The Royal Lancers (Queen Elizabeth's Own). |
