Motorway Boots No. 191

The motorway boot first appeared in 1969 as an update to our earlier styles which were based on British horse-riding boots such as the old Hunter and the 896 styles. The Motorway boot immediately proved popular with the British Motorcycle Policemen, who were given an allowance to spend in the Lewis Leathers shop on boots, jacket (the 414 Roadmaster) and our 939 HP trousers. The polished finish meant that the Motorway boot was smart enough for ceremonial duties and practical for day to day wear on the motorcycle.

Our boots are made to the same exacting specifications and patterns of the period in which they were first created.
Our Northampton maker takes great care in maintaining the quality and integrity of our boots, right down to the Goodyear Welted construction and custom-made, period specific buckles. Please bear in mind that, due to our attention to vintage detailing, these boots may not meet present-day PPE safety standards and are not intended to do so.
Today our boots are still hand-made here in Northampton, home of British boot making, the original patterns and cutting knives are still used in the production and construction of the boots ensuring authenticity.
The boots are made in limited batches, when the current stock starts to sell out, we re-order.
