The Road Racer Boots first appeared in 1977 and were a reworking of the ten year old Racing Boots. The most obvious difference was the quilted front panel, an innovative device which provided protection with flexibility, the construction was, and still is, unique, the inner construction is also completely different from the 178 Racing Boot and two expanding gussets provide extra ease for wider legs. The design was patented by Lewis Leathers (Patent No. 1092429). Worn by many top motorcycle racers of the day, the boot is as unique today as it was in 1977.

Our boots are made to the same exacting specifications and patterns of the period in which they were first created.
Our Northampton maker takes great care in maintaining the quality and integrity of our boots, right down to the Goodyear Welted construction and custom-made, period specific buckles. Please bear in mind that, due to our attention to vintage detailing, these boots may not meet present-day PPE safety standards and are not intended to do so.
Today our boots are still hand-made here in Northampton, home of British boot making, the original patterns and cutting knives are still used in the production and construction of the boots ensuring authenticity.
The boots are made in limited batches, when the current stock starts to sell out, we re-order.
